Well, we didn't expect this, creative assembly studio have spent almost 6 years to release one the largest map of all the Warhammer games, and of course the whole Total War franchise put together.
The immortal empires map is one of epic proportions, the video tour narration, that gives a brief overview of this map is a whooping 15 minutes long. But this doesn't comes at any surprise, especially for the die hard Warhammer fans, the Warhammer universe is absolutely huge, and this map pays tribute to that fact.
Since the first beta was released there was about 533 regions, now that has increased to 554, with 278 immortal empire factions with 22 races to select from. In mortal empires you could choose from 74 legendary lords, but now that's been ramped up to 86.
Well, you're probably looking at the map and thinking its gonna take a pretty long to navigate, but luckily they have introduced sea lanes...
Sea Lanes offer unprecedented freedom of movement to explore the Immortal Empires. Lords and Heroes alike can visit distant shores without having to cross land, engaging in exciting confrontations while forming new allegiances - a perfect opportunity for unique roleplaying experiences! The Underworld Sea is an exception however as it connects two major regions otherwise inaccessible on foot; enabling daring adventures between realms once thought unreachable. Time spent at sea might take several turns but with these sea lanes will enable you to reach your destination faster thus quickening up the gameplay.
There is currently 86 factions on the beta release, the map below gives an accurate indication of the starting points of each.
however as the game development progresses, more factions and races will be released. Evidence of this can be see on the empty landscapes show in the factions map. Creative assembly have announced that new races such as the Chaos Dwarfs will be available in the next update around 2nd quarter of 2023 and in every update there will be new additions added to the roster, so expect the empty spaces on the map to be filled up pretty soon!
